Summery indie pop song ‘Marylise’ from Charlyn

Twangy reverb-slathered guitars seem to be showing up everywhere nowadays thanks to The 1975. It’s like we’re reliving the eighties again. Not that I’m complaining – there’s something undeniably summery and feelgood about twangy reverb-slathered guitars.

And fresh indie pop outfit Charlyn have the perfect vocals to match this upbeat sound. Swiss-born frontwoman Charlyn (from which the band take their name) sports a sugary-sweet cadence that’s sure to appeal to fans of acts like CHVRCHES and Little Boots.

She explains the track’s lyrics like so: “a summery pop song, telling the story of a woman pretending to have ‘the perfect life’, however wanting to escape and live the life of someone else.”

The band also have a new self-titled EP out, which you can check out below.
