Tom Lumley – Interview

Tom Lumley is a Indie singer/songwriter originally from Cambridgeshire. He has been writing and gigging for the past three years. During this time he has played at popular venues in the UK supporting the likes of Coasts,The Hunna, Kill It Kid, Sam Duckworth, Violet Bones and playing festivals such as Dot To Dot, Strawberry Fair etc. Whilst constantly being busy out on the road he has also been releasing original material which has gained radio play around the UK including the local BBC Introducing show in Cambridgeshire.

Cambridge’s local scene has blown up massively at the moment, breeding indie bands like their is no tomorrow, who are you most excited about right now?

I totally agree it’s got a great buzz about it at the moment. I’d have to say i’m massively excited about Oscar Corney and more recently Deep City. Both great artists and people.

What’s been your favourite venue to perform in so far?

For me hands down The Junction. It’s a venue which I always dreamed of playing having seen my favourite artists there.

Festival season is coming up, have you got any lined up?

I do indeed, i’m playing an acoustic slot at Dot To Dot in Nottingham, The Willow Festival and a few others which i’m yet too announce so keep an eye out on my Facebook :P.

If you could work with anyone, dead or alive who would it be?

This is such a tough question, there’s so many I’d choose haha. I’d love to work with the Nothing But Thieves boys but I think if I could choose one artist it would have to be Miles Kane for me.
Describe your latest single ‘Seesaw’ in three words

Fun, Catchy and energetic

Who’s been your biggest influence?

This is a hard one for me because i’d say i’ve had so many different influences as i’ve grown up. I’d have to say though Miles Kane has always been a big influence and more recently bands like Catfish and the Bottlemen.

What’s next for you?

There’s a lot of exciting stuff happening which I can’t talk about yet but I have new music being released on the 20th of May and some big shows to announce for the end of the year so there’s lots happening.
